No-exam life insurance
Eligibility requirements for expedited underwriting, how the procedure works, and what differs if you're not approved for it.
Many insurers now offer expedited underwriting: for customers within age and amount windows, approval happens through application details, pharmacy records, driving history and other information rather than medical testing. Decisions can occur within hours. Each quote shows whether an exam is mandatory, conditional, or unnecessary for that particular product.
What it changes
Avoiding an exam doesn't bypass the underwriting process. Your stated information gets verified; a policy granted based on inaccurate answers can be voided within its first two years. Should the carrier's research bring up concerns, they may require an exam or lab tests—you'll decide whether to proceed at that stage.
Who tends to qualify
Typically, applicants younger than approximately 60 seeking coverage up to the carrier's limits, with minimal health concerns and no tobacco or nicotine use for a year or more qualify. If you've seen a doctor recently with lab results on file, some insurers will accept those instead of a fresh exam.
If an exam is needed, expect a 20–30 minute appointment at your Brentwood home or workplace with a medical technician—at no expense. For applicants in good health, exam results often result in an upgraded rate classification, so it's not inherently unfavorable.
